John Q. Adams the son of 2nd U.S. President John Adams was not elected by the American people. He was elected by the House of representatives when Andrew Jackson failed to get the required majority of Electors. A very controversial election and Andrew Jackson was victorious four years later in becoming the 7th U.S. President.
